OKEMOS, Mich.-What do actor/playwright/guitarist Jeff Daniels, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and mystery novelist Sue Henry all have in common?
They are all passionate about RVing. People, celebrities included, enjoy the comfort, convenience and freedom that RVs have to offer. And who could blame them? Today almost eight million households in the U.S. own at least one RV-a 58 percent increase since 1980, according to a study by the University of Michigan's Survey Research Center.
Celebrities aren't much different from the average RVer. They make time to take trips on the road with their family, traveling with the comfort and convenience of having a home on wheels. They also enjoy the peace and quiet the open road brings. Not only is comfort and convenience a factor, but also the relief that RVing provides from everyday stresses life can bring.
Jeff Daniels, raised in Chelsea, Mich., is an avid RVer. This Michigander says he's been a fan of recreation vehicles for a very long time. "I really like the idea of driving them. I've owned several and I keep upgrading them every couple of years," he says.
Daniels, Gordon and Henry aren't the only celeb RVers on the roads. Hall of Fame major league pitcher Bob Gibson and actor Matthew McConaughey are also enthusiastic RVers.
"There's nothing not to like about it. The freedom of being able to pull up, stop, power up anywhere you want-beach or whatever. Set up and have your front yard different every single day," McConaughey said about the RVing lifestyle.
There's nothing like it. That's a common response you'll get from RVers, celebrities and the average family. Instead of taking tropical vacations around the world, celebrities have opted instead to hop in their RVs and go. Whether it's staying at an RV park and meeting your neighbors, having a barbeque along side a lake, or just driving until you feel you've met your destination, RVing has a lot to offer.
